![]() And thanks to my incredible blow-up mattress and the nights getting into the 50’s, it was very pleasant. Evan and I slept in the tent that they brought along for us. We had their stovetop for meals, as well as Dad bbq’ing on his grill. My parents brought their rv and their pups. While the buildings and cabins looked very aged (and I’d worry about the inside conditions)… the grounds, the bathhouse that we used, the playground, the animals, and the water were all fantastic! And it was the best weekend! ![]() We drove up immediately after school on Thursday, stayed until Sunday. The boys had a Friday off from school and my mom could get off work, so it was the perfect chance to go try it out. I had heard about it (and its crystal-clear waters and beautiful bluffs) for years, just had never made it out there. Of course, it was supposed to be in our new vintage camper. While I love the sound of my luggage rolling through the airport, there is something nostalgic about packing the car to the brim and going on a road trip that still gets me excited. You simply can’t pass up the memories you will make in Hill Country! Taking a family journey of about 200 miles to Hill Country may be just what you need to enjoy the various terrains of our great state and connect with nature and each other! It’s a great destination to sample local wines and the river and lakes throughout are simply breathtaking! The hills are alive… with the sound of Texas summer fun!
